It is a Windows system bug that affects a small number of computers. We are not sure how this happens. But on some computers, the WebClient service's logon account is set to "Local System Account". It should be "Local Service". Please see the screenshot below:
If the logon account is Local System, try to start the service, you will see the following error message:
"The WebClient service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
The WebClient service is required for WebDAV drive mapping. If the service cannot be started, you cannot use DriveHQ WebDAV Drive Mapping Tool.
To solve the problem, you just need to change the WebClient service's logon account to "Local Service". In the following dialog, you can type in Local Service, and clear the Password and Confirm Password. (use blank password), then click Ok.
You can then start the WebClient service. If you use DriveHQ WebDAV Drive Mapping Tool, please set the service Startup Type to "Automatic".
