Duplication ServicesIn May 2005, the Duplication Room was closed as a public service point. After the staffs of Duplication and Reserve were combined that summer, the new Digital Production unit of the Access and Delivery Services team was formed. Digital Production also handles the revamped duplication services for the UT Libraries. This includes installing and maintaining the public copiers that are now spread throughout the building and the branches, assisting with staff duplication jobs and color printing, and collecting money and statistical information from all copiers and card readers. We also handle miscellaneous jobs such as trimming, binding, and ordering of paper and toner supplies. One possible future area of growth for DPS could be "digitization on demand". The University of Michigan's ILS has started this service for non-circulating and out of copyright library materials. Books are scanned to digital library standards and an online record is also added to their catalog. http://www.lib.umich.edu/ill/DOD.html |
