1933 Chevrolet Commercial Delivery / Police Patrol

return to U.S.A. Miscellaneous Menu
Two more kits finished in 2014, both are the 1933 Chevrolet Panel Truck from MPC. The original version (303-149) and the later Gangbusters Police Patrol version (133-04).

But I do think that the Panel Truck name is not correct. It's probably more correct to call it a Commercial Delivery.
Anyhow, I purchased these kits some while ago. The original (Budd Anderson?) version was pretty good, some parts assembled, but the Gangbusters Police Patrol was not in a very good shape. Partially assembled with a fair amount of glue and some parts were missing.

I found some pictures of a Chevrolet Commercial Delivery on the internet and it had no chrome cooling doors in the hood sides so I decided to get rid of them. And instead of two spare wheels I only used one. The rest of the work was basic. The fenders of the original Chevrolet were painted black (Tamiya TS-14) and the body was painted in olive drab (matt TS-28 Tamiya) with a clear coating (TS-13 Tamiya). The Chevrolet Patrol Car received an overall black paint job with Tamiya TS-14 and new decals. And I scratch build the two missing benches for the inside and the two missing handrails on the rear.
