(Hernandez). The Muckrakers were 1 win away from advancing to the CDBL World Series, and they'd have ace Felix Hernandez on the mound at home. In the bottom of the 2nd with 2 outs, Matt Wieters gave Madison an early lead on a solo home run. In the 4th, Orlando Hudson doubled, moved to third on a base hit from Daric Barton and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Zimmerman. The Bandits cut the lead the lead to 1 in the 6th inning when Colby Rasmus hit a solo home run. Felix Hernandez would pitch 7 innings, giving up 3 hits, 1 earned run and struck out 7. In the bottom of the 7th, Madison added an insurance run on a solo dinger by Nick Markakis. And another insurance run in the 8th on a solo home run by Carl Crawford. 4-1 Madison heading into the top of the 9th. Muckrakers reliever Jeremy Affeldt was pitching in the top of the 9th with a 3 run lead and 3 outs away from the CDBL World Series. Wilson Betemit, the first batter up, singled. On came closer Brian Wilson. Stephen Drew grounded out, advancing Betemit 90 feet. Brett Gardner struck out. With 2 outs, Brian Schneider walked, putting the tying run at the plate in the form of pinch hitter Nick Johnson. The Bandits' season boiled down to this. On a 3-2 pitch, Johnson watched the pitch go past him for a strike. K for Wilson, and the season for the Brookeville Bandits was over. Madison wins game 5 by a score of 4-1 to advance to the CDBL World Series for the first time in franchise history.
