The male is distinguished from the female by a conspicuous dark line (called a "sex brand") on the forewings

And here we have a female, without the line

The Skipper family is unique among butterflies in that their usual alighted posture is with their wings open and the forewing on top of the hindwing but angled upwards

When they do close their wings one can see that the underside of the hindwing actually has green markings as well as orange and yellow
