| We know we are frequently visited by hedgehogs, both in the garden and in the meadow, as the droppings they leave behind are quite distinctive - as is the snuffling sound they make when foraging at night. We are thus very careful to look out for them before disturbing wood-piles or other sources of cover and hibernation space. | ||

| Because they are essentially nocturnal, actual sightings of hedgehogs are less common and as they can move surprisingly quickly they don't exactly hang around to have their portrait taken! | ||
