Although we often see many species in the meadow at the same time, individuals of different species come close together surprisingly infrequently. Here we have a Comma and a Peacock, and two instances of a Large Skipper and a Meadow Brown (plus fly in the right-most image!)

And here a female Brown Argus and a male Common Blue, a male Brown Argus and a female Common Blue, and finally a threesome - Brown Argus (to top left - very faded!), male Common Blue (bottom centre) and male Small Copper (top right)

On the left a female Essex Skipper and a male Brown Argus, in the centre a Small Copper and a male Common Blue (who, of course, had his wings open until a split-second before the shutter fired!) and then a Gatekeeper (left) with a Small Heath (right)
