The last 6 games of the 1993 season were exciting indeed.  In the 2nd
to last set of games, the series of note was the Syndicate vs the Squids.
The Syndicate had already had a 1 game lead, and won 2 out of 3 to take a
2 game lead over the Squids.  Then, in the last series, disaster struck
the Syndicate.  They met up with the red hot towers, who decided to put on
the best performance run of their season *AFTER* they were eliminated from
the playoffs.  The Syndicate were swept in a 3 game series which brought
back memories of the prior two seasons when they exited the season with a
whimper. 

The Squids could tie by winning two games against the 'Topes, or win the
division with a sweep.  But it was not to be.  The 'Topes took 2 out of 3
from the Squids, which guaranteed the Syndicate their first pennant in the
CFOD.

In the Koufax division, the Brewins and Sluggers each took two out of three
from their opponents to keep the Slugger's lead over the Brewins to two 
games.  However, in the final series against the Wet Sox (who had lost
2 of 3 against the Brewins previously), the Sluggers couldn't seal it off.
The Wet Sox took 2 out of three.  The Brewins faced the Scrubs, and 
managed to sweep them.  In the final 3 games, the Brewins gained two on
the Sluggers, to result in the CFOD's first ever co-pennant winner.
Rumor has it the league office is scrambling for a ruling on this matter
with respect to the playoffs (but rumor has it the two will duke it out
first to see who gets to host the Squids).

In the Ruth division, things were pretty much the same as they had been
all season.  The Coneheads won 7 of their last 10 games to widen their
lead over the 2nd place Whiffers to 30 games.  

In the Young division, the 2nd place Moshers were determined to take the
pennant for the 2nd year in a row.  But the Mayhem won 2 out of 3, and
the Thunder won 2 out of 3, which caused the Moshers to fall to 2 games out.
The Thunder & Mosher wins, combined with a loss from the Climbers caused
the Climber's hopes of a playoff shot to end.  The final series of the season
was the Thunder vs the Moshers.  Even though the Moshers were 2 games out,
they could still win the pennant by their own actions.  It would take a 
3 game sweep to clinch the pennant.  It was not to be.  The Thunder won                         
the first game to ensure their first ever pennant.  However, the Moshers
still wanted to give a show of force, winning the final two games to give
the Moshers a 7-5 win edge over the Thunder in team to team play.  This
still didn't give the Moshers a pennant, but it did give them hope.  The
Moshers play the Thunder in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Congratulations to the Syndicate (1st time winners), Sluggers/Brewins
(1st time winners), Coneheads (3 time winners), and Thunder (1st time
winners) on their pennant success.  The playoff format will be as

HFA for the Sluggers and Brewins will be done by a "numbers" game.  Each
owner will pick either the number 0 or 1.  If the two numbers are 00 or 11,
the Sluggers get home field advantage, but if the two numbers are 01 or 10,
the Brewins get home field advantage.  All series are 7 games.  I will give
the playoff bound teams more info.  Also, final stats will be coming soon,
but it may take until this weekend, as I want to get all trades factored
into the team stats & leaderboard.

and Thunder (as well as to the Squids and Moshers for making the playoffs
as wildcard teams).
