NOTES: The 2017 regular season of the CFOD is complete! Walcott won their last game and Minneapolis lost their last game to give the Walruses their first division title since 2012. Minneapolis enters the playoffs as the MK conference wildcard. The San Francisco Organization are the Mantle division winners, their first division title since 2004. Walcott and San Francisco each finished with 93 wins, and due to Walcott winning the regular season series 5 games to 4, they get the #1 seeding in the conference and a 1st round Bye. The Park City Climbers won their last game of the season, clinching outright the #2 league wildcard. Rocklin wins the Young division title, their first since 2012. California won a league best 108 games a nd the Ruth division title. The Seattle Moshers enter the playoffs as the RY conference wildcar and the Topeka MooseDogs are the #1 league wildcard, their first playoff appearance since 2009. Playoff bracket is as follows: (1) Walcott Walruses (93-69, Koufax division champ) vs. BYE (2) San Francisco Organization (93-69, Mantle division champ) (HFA) vs. (4) Minneapolis Malice (92-70, MK Conf Wildcard) (1) California Coneheads (108-54) (Ruth division champ) vs. Round 0 Winner (2) Rocklin Thunder (99-63) (Young division champ) vs. (3) Seattle Moshers (RY Conf Wildcard) Round 0: Topeka MooseDogs (92-70, #1 league wildcard) (HFA) vs. Park City Climbers (91-71, #2 league wildcard) The 95 loss club this year were just 3 teams, and this is the order they will draft next year: #1 - San Diego Termites (59-103) (Last made playofs 2014) #2 - Olympia Rainiers (40-122) (#1 overall pick 2016) #3 - Miami Mangos (61-101) (Last made playoffs 2016) For having finished just out of the playoffs, the 90-72 Angry Candy will draft 4th overall. Not only did Corey Kluber of the Organization win the pitching triple crown (wins, ERA, strikeouts), but he set some individual records as well. His 5.2 hits per 9 innings broke a record originally set by Nolan Ryan in 1991, and his 6.6 runners per 9 innings bested Jordan Zimmerman's 2014 mark. The California Coneheads' 2.93 team ERA set a new record, besting the 2.97 mark of the Angry Candy in 2014. Their 69 team saves is also a new record, 4 better than the mark set by 3 teams. The Walruses struck out 1665 batters, setting a new strikeout mark previously held by Rocklin. They did it with relievers, as the Walruses and Miami Mangos also tied the league low mark for complete games with 0. I will send playoff information out shortly. Thanks again for another great season!
