His 16 wins was good enough for 5th best in the league, and his 84.2% winning percentage was tops. Nobody topped his .190 batting average against or .273 slugging percentage against. While the 'Topes only won 79 games, that was 7 games better than their run margin would have predicted. 1ST RUNNER UP -- Mark Melancon, Seattle Moshers Age ERA OPS W L S G GS CG SHO INN H R ER BB K HR GDP 31 1.70 .511 8 4 27 69 0 0 0 79.1 53 20 15 21 80 6 8 Amongst the closers with at least 15 saves, Melancon led the list with a 0.511 OPS against, and his 1.70 ERA was 2nd best of the 19 reliever short list. His 27 saves was tied for 3rd most in the league. While the Moshers only won 82 games, they did so despite giving up more runs than they scored. Their 1-run, extra innings and tied after 7 win/loss record was not that impressive, it would have been even worse without Melancon. 2016 CFOD FIREMAN OF THE YEAR -- Francisco Rodriguez, Park City Climbers Age ERA OPS W L S G GS CG SHO INN H R ER BB K HR GDP 34 2.84 .623 4 4 34 61 0 0 0 63.1 44 20 20 30 68 5 2 Francisco Rodriguez has had a solid career. Rodriguez logged the most saves with 34, the most save opportunities with 38, and had the 2nd best save percentage, saving 89.5% of his opportunities. His 2.84 ERA was not the best among closers, but it didn't seem to have an effect on his ability to close out a game. His 50 games finished was 4th best in the league. The Climbers were 25-20 in 1-run games, and 9-5 in extra innings, and Rodriguez' steady hand helped them to a 93 win season and the Young division title.
