NOTES: The 2012 CFOD regular season is complete. The Arthropods lost against the Angry Candy in the early game, giving Topeka a shot at making the playoffs for the first time since 2009. Unfortunately their late-season comeback didn't last long enough, losing to the Pitbulls in 11 innings. Tiebreaker for the #2 league wildcard goes to Arlington, who bested the MooseDogs 3 games to 1 in the regular season. Here is the playoff bracket: Round 0 playoffs: Mechan Syndicate (95-67, #1 league wildcard, HFA) vs. Arlington Arthropods (93-69, #2 league wildcard) Round 1 playoffs: MK Conference: Angry Candy (106-56, Mantle division winner, HFA) vs. Round 0 winner Walcott Walruses (81-81, Koufax division winner, HFA) vs. Bakersfield RamJets (101-61, MK Conf wildcard) RY Conference: Paxtang Pitbulls (101-61, Ruth division winner) vs. 1st round bye Rocklin Thunder (93-69, Young division winner, HFA) vs. California Coneheads (96-66, RY Conf wildcard) The Candy capture their first pennant since 2009, the Walruses win their first pennant since 2006, Paxtang their first pennant sinec 2008, and the Thunder their first pennant since 2010. Members of the 95 loss club this year are the 'Topes, Mudfish, Pirates, Rock, Termites, and Mangos. With the new rule sorting teams by the last time they made the playoffs and/or had the #1 pick, here is the top of the draft order for next year: 1. Miami Mangos 62-100 (#1 pick in 1998) 2. Springfield 'Topes 67-95 (Made playoffs in 2001) 3. San Diego Termites 64-98 (Made playoffs in 2006) 4. Cincinnati Rock 52-110 (Made playoffs in 2007) 5. Missouri Mudfish 64-98 (Made playoffs in 2010) 6. Pig's Eye Pirates 60-102 (Made playoffs in 2011) The Topeka MooseDogs, having lost a playoff spot in heartbreaking fashion, get to console themselves by picking 7th overall next year. In records news, San Francisco Piazza's (really long) reliever Kevin Correia set a new record for most appearances in a season, pitching in an incredible 123 games. The Angry Candy's incredible pitching staff set a new league best for ERA, as their 2.99 rate breaks a 21 year old record. They also set a new record for most shutouts with 24. The MooseDogs played a lot of ball, setting a new record for most innings pitched with 1514. The 'Topes forgot how to walk, as their team hitting on base average of .288 shatters a 21 year old infamous record, and their 313 total team walks a new 20 year league low. Playoff info to be sent out shortly. Thanks again for another great season!
