2003 All CFOD Teams Below are the 1st and 2nd All-CFOD teams for the 2003 year. Players were selected according to the following formulas: BATVAL = 0.09*(RUNS+RBI)+(AB+BB)*(OBA+SBSLG-0.770)*0.09 STARTPITVAL = ((WINS+SAVES)/1.2+IP/10*((LN(4.44/ERA)+LN(1.398/WHIP)))) RELPITVAL = ((WINS+SAVES)/1.6+IP/5*((LN(4.44/ERA)+LN(1.398/WHIP)))) Where SBSLG is slugging percentage with net steals factored in, WHIP is (walks + hits)/IP, and LN is the natural log of the function. Starters are those that have at least half of their game appearances as game starts, while relievers are those that do not have at least half of their appearances as game starts. Hitters only qualified at the position where they've played the most this season, with centerfields also qualifying in the left/right field positions if they had enough value. Paxtang's Carlos Delgado was not far behind. Interestingly enough, the lowest rated starter was shortstop Alex Rodriguez. California's Scott Rolen had the least amount of homers with 31. Javy Lopez of Boston was lowest in runs scored with 103, but highest in RBI with 160. 2003 was certainly the year of the closer. A lot of teams had closers who wer emoney, with ERA's hovering around 2. The only pitcher not to get at least 30 saves on the 1st team was Eddie Guardado of the RamJets, and he made up for it with a 12-2 record.
