1995 CDBL All-Star Teams Below are the teams for the 1995 CDBL all-star game, to be held at Shea Stadium, home of the Avila Dragons, the team with the best record at the break. Players were selected according to the following formulas: BATVAL = 0.09*(RUNS+RBI)+(AB+BB)*(OBA+SBSLG-0.755)*0.09 STARTPITVAL = ((WINS+SAVES)/1.2+IP/10*((LN(4.43/ERA)+LN(0.756/OPS)))) RELPITVAL = ((WINS+SAVES)/1.6+IP/5*((LN(4.43/ERA)+LN(0.756/OPS)))) Where SBSLG is slugging percentage with net steals factored in, and LN is the natural log of the function. Starters are those that have at least half of their game appearances as game starts, while relievers are those that do not have at least half of their appearances as game starts. Hitters only qualified at the position where they've played the most this season, with centerfields also qualifying in the left/right field positions if they had enough value. In general the formulas were balanced such that the best hitters/starters/relievers had an equal contribution from runs/RBI's/wins/saves as from their sabrmatic-esque stats. * NEW RULE: THE "JESSE OROSCO" RULE. Jesse Orosco has 21 1/3 innings of shutout relief this year. Under the present formula, he'd have a value of infinity. I am instituing a new rule for value calculations: Pitchers who have yet to allow a run will have their value calculated assuming they've given up 1 earned run.
