1993 CDBL Playoff Preview Springfield Isotopes (102-60, Paige division champions) vs. Manhatten Beach Mashers (102-60, AP Conference wildcard) The Isotopes set numerous batting records this year as one of the top run producers of all times. Barry Bonds had an amazing year, hitting 61 home runs, batting .393, scoring 158 runs and driving in 169. Mark Grace and Greg Vaughn each drove in at least 120 RBI, and Dave Hollins and Jeff Blauser scored at least 120 runs. Not a weak link in the bunch. Curt Schilling won 19 games with a 3.89 ERA, while Dave Fleming went 15-8 with a 3.43 ERA. Rich Rodriguez saved 17 games for the Isotopes, who had the second largest run differential in the league. The Mashers were good as always. The hitting was a platoon affair this year, as no batter had over 500 AB. Still, Eric Davis had 29 home runs, Rick Wilkins had 31, and Rickey Henderson scored over 100 runs. Paul O'Neill hit .354 with 23 home runs, 104 runs scored and 85 RBI. Harold Baines knocked in 93 runs. Tom Candiotti had an ace year, winning 19 games with a 3.15 ERA. Mark Portugal won 17, while Danny Jackson won 15. Closer Jesse Orosco led the league in saves with 38. In 9 regular season meetings, the Isotopes won 7. In the 7th inning, with Greg Vaughn on base, Mike Stanley hit a 2-run homer off Frank Viola, tying up the game at 2. In the 8th inning, with Greg Harris pitching for the Mashers, Ryan Thompson hit a leadoff double. With 2 outs in the inning, Greg Vaughn smacked a single between third and short, scoring Thompson from second.
