In the 2nd inning, Lloyd McClendon walked. A wild pitch prompted him to go to 2nd, but Tettleton recovered the ball in time and threw him out. The slugger at bat, Tim Teufel, then took Hesketh deep for only a single run. In the bottom of the 3rd, the bases were loaded for Danny Tartabull. Tartabull's had a good post-season, and it got even better. Grand slam home run, 4-1 Urban Rats. The Mashers chipped away at the Urban Rats' lead, scoring once in the 4th and twice in the 5th to make it a 4-4 ballgame. In the 7th, with runners at 2nd & 3rd, Luis Salazar took Kelly Downs deep. 3 run home run, 7-4 Mashers lead. Kirk Gibson cut the lead to 2 with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning. Mike Felder singled in another runner in the 8th. 7-6 Mashers after 8. Manhatten Beach held onto a 1 run lead going into the bottom of the 9th inning. Jeff Gray was on the mound. Kirk Gibson hit a lead off single. Mickey Tettleton hit into a potential DP, but made it to first in time. 1 out. Danny Tartabull flied out for 2 outs. With a runner at first, Jeff Gray shut the Urban Rats down for good, getting Dan Pasqua to pop out to first. The Mashers win game 2 by a score of 7-6.
