Here's the sample profile. Please try to get your managerial profiles in early (opening day is December 8, 1997). If I don't get a managerial profile by then (or if I get 20 profiles on Sunday), some people may have the computer managing for them for awhile while I enter in lists. ***************************************************************************** TENDENCIES: You may tweak your managerial tendencies using 5 different levels: Least Frequent, Less Frequent, Neutral, More Frequent, Most Frequent. Setting everything to neutral will pretty must just use your team to its abilities (IE-if you have a guy who steals a lot of bases, he still will steal a lot of bases). These set the aggressiveness or passiveness of your team on certain issues. PH stands for "pinch hitter". ***************************************************************************** Manager Profile for 1984 Albuquerque Stingrays Manager Tendencies Bunting: Neutral Hit and run: Neutral Stealing: More frequent Running: Neutral Take pitch: Neutral PH for a pitcher: Neutral PH for a non-pitcher: Neutral PH for platoon player: Neutral PH in a blowout: Neutral Pitching around: Neutral Intentional walk: Neutral Pickoff throws: Neutral Pitching out: Neutral Using relievers: Less frequent Using closers: More frequent Holding runners: Neutral Infield in: Neutral Guard lines: Neutral **************************************************************************** PITCHING: You may have three different modes of "Usage" for pitching: Strict, Time, or Skip. Strict will just play your pitchers in the order that you list them under starters. Skip is like Strict, except that if you have a rest day then it will play your 1st starter earlier. Time proportionally doles out the starts to all of your starters on the roster based upon how many real life starts they have (it effectively chucks your starting rotation out the window). You must list a minimum of 4 starters, and even then, it's probably a better idea to go with 5 to prevent early burnout. If you use "Strict" or "Skip" (but *NOT* "Time"), you may use spot starters. Spot starters will start a certain percentage of the time (specified by you) in place of the regular starter. Since the "Time" usage doesn't really use the starting pitching profile, using spot starters won't help. Also note, you are limited to one spot starter per "regular" starter, and you must specify a percentage you wish to spot start them (otherwise, it's going to be 0%, and it's just as if you never specified a starter in the first place). People who have a durability rating for starters may start. People who have a durability rating for relievers may relieve. People who have durability ratings for both may do both. Note: In the regular season, players of any IP may be mentioned in the profile. There is no minimum IP for the regular season (but there is the 110% usage rule). For relievers, you should specify your closers vs left or right, setup men vs left or right, and your long & mopup starters. You may list up to 5 people for each of these spots, and you put players in multiple slots (although you can't list them twice in the same spot). Since we don't have minimum IP requirements for mention in the profile, (other than the minimum 15 IP to be on the active roster), it could lead to teams burning out large numbers of their players early who didn't have many IP to begin with. I ask that you try to pace your players so that this doesn't happen. **************************************************************************** Pitching Chart Usage mode: Skip Rotation size: 5 Next starter: 1 Starting Rotation Morris Valenzuela Gullickson Zahn Beckwith Spot Starters Easterly Spot Pct 40 Mopup situations Porter Aponte Easterly Nunez Stanley Long relievers Porter Stanley Setup vs LHB Stanley O'Neal Diaz Setup vs RHB Stanley Nunez Aponte Thomas,R Closers vs LHB Stanley Nunez Closers vs RHB Nunez Stanley ***************************************************************************** Batting lineups: You will need to submit lineups for both LHP & RHP. Since this a non-DH league, the 9th batting slot will be reserved for the pitcher. ***************************************************************************** Manager Profile for 1984 Albuquerque Stingrays Depth Chart for 1984 Albuquerque Stingrays -- vs LHP Usage: Game by game Starting Lineup 1: Wiggins 2b 2: Beniquez rf 3: Parrish 3b 4: Balboni 1b 5: Foster lf 6: Rayford c 7: Meacham ss 8: Moseby cf 9: ************************************************************************* DEPTH CHART: For the depth chart, need to have at least 1 utility player for every position. You may also mention platoon players (those that come in when a reliever of the opposite handedness does) and defensive players (those that come in the late innings of close games). The way you can distribute playing time is by letting the utility players start a certain %age of the games. You can monitor this by either of two ways: Trackstarts or game by game. Trackstarts looks at the season as a whole, and tries to distribute playing time so that at the end of the season the playing time has been distributed %age-wise according to the diagram. Game by game randomly determines who starts the games without regards to past performances. Here a utility player with a 20% start rate has a 20% chance of starting that game. You can also have up to 5 pinch hitters for each side. With DMB 7.0b, there's PH vs LHP and PH vs RHP for each depth chart side. The DMB manual doesn't really explain why they have these redundant PH profiles, but I'd recommend just putting the same guys as PH vs RHP on both sides (like I have), and do the same for PH vs LHP. For the '84 season, there is no minimum AB that you need to be mentioned in the profile (besides the 30 AB minimum to be on the active roster). But remember that there is a 110% total plate apparance limit, and a 200% plate apperance limit for each side. Try not to burn people out early. ************************************************************************** Catcher First Base Second Base Third Base Shortstop Start Rayford Balboni Wiggins Parrish Meacham Plat Gedman Backman Def Rayford Davis,G Jeltz Util1 Gedman 0 Chambliss 0 Mullins 0 Mullins 0 Mullins 0 Util2 Util3 Util4 Util5 Left Field Center Field Right Field Desig. However, note that even if it is set for "Yes", it won't always happen. I can almost guarantee that Ryne Sandberg will never be pinch-hit for. **ALSO NOTE** You don't have to include the actual numbers below. DMB automatically does this. You only have to worry about this section if you want to change their status from being able to be pinch hit for to not being able to be pinch hit for. ********************************************************************** Manager Profile for 1984 Albuquerque Stingrays Playing Time Limits for 1984 Albuquerque Stingrays Maximum Atbats Can be PH for?
