NOTES: The 2011 CDBL regular season is complete! The Surfers won their last game and the Maul and Minutemen each lost their last game, resulting in a 3-way tie for the Gehrig division. With a 3-team tiebreaker it goes by run margin, so the Surfers enter the playoffs as the division champs with a +157 run differential, Albuquerque the GT Conference Wildcard with a +144 run margin and the Minutemen the #1 league wildcard with a +142 run differential. The Bandits and Caution both won their last games, giving the #2 league wildcard to Alphaville. Arkham and DBL finished with a league best 102 wins. The tiebreaker for the higher playoff seeding goes to DBL, who won their season series against the Investigators 5 games to 4. Boston's Tiant division title is their 2nd straight, while Arkham's Aaron divisiont title and DBL's Paige division title are their first since 2001. For the triple sharing Gehrig division, it is Carlsbad's 2nd straight title, Albuquerque's first since 2007, and Concord's first since 2006. Below are the playoff brackets: AP Conference: 1. DBL Fishbiscuits (102-60) (Paige Division Winner) vs BYE 2. Arkham Investigators (102-60) (Aaron Division Winner) (HFA) vs 3. Manhatten Beach Mashers (97-65, AP Conf Wildcard) GT Conference: Round 0 (Best of 3): Concord Minutemen (96-66) (HFA) (#1 League Wildcard) vs. Alphaville Caution (93-69) (#2 league wildcard) 1. Boston Bulldogs (99-63) (Tiant Division Winner) (HFA) vs Round 0 Winner 2. Carlsbad Surfers (96-66) (Gehrig Division Winner) (HFA) vs. 3. Albuquerque Maul (96-66) (GT Conf Wildcard) The top of the 2012 draft order, AKA the 95-loss club, is as follows: 1. White Rock Phantoms (66-96) (#1 overall pick in 2004) 2. Milwaukee Pilots (24-138) (Last made playoffs in 2009) 3. Half Moon Bay Dragons (58-104) (Last made playoffs in 2010, 2-2 vs MAD, -170 run differential) 4. Madison Muckrakers (58-104) (Last made playoffs in 2010, 2-2 vs HMB, -161 run differential) 5. Tualatin Thunder (58-104) (#1 overall pick in 2011) Who might the Phantoms pick at #1? That's a clown question, bro. Having just missed out on the playoffs, the 92 game winning Brookeville Bandits draft 6th overall. In new league records, the lowly Pilot set a new team low in on base average with .260, total walks with 269, and total saves with 10 and tied for lowest total shutouts with 0, while the lowly Thunder set a new low team low in triples with 11. The Dragons tied the low water mark for complete games with 0. In positive news, the Bandits pitching staff set a new high for strikeouts with 1440. Thanks again for another great season! I will be posting playoff information shortly.
