2011 CDBL ALL-STAR GAME The 2011 CDBL All-Star game was held at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, home of the Arkham Investigators, the team with the best record at the break. In the top of the 3rd, Albuquerque's Alex Rodriguez hit a solo home run off of Jeremy Hellickson of the SuperSquad for a 1-0 GT All-Stars lead. In the bottom of the 4th, with Bruce Chen of the Caution on the mound, DBL's Prince Fielder singled and Montreal's Hunter Pence homered, putting the AP All-Stars up 2-1. Adrian Beltre of the Bandits hit a solo home run to make it 3-1 AP All-Stars after 4 innings. In the top of the 7th, Kenley Jansen of the Isotopes was pitching with a 2 run lead. Josh Hamilton of the Stingers hit a 1 out single, and Concord's Paul Konerko doubled, putting runners at 2nd & 3rd. Scott Downs of the Friars became the new pitcher, and Carlsbad hitter Jacoby Ellsbury singled, scoring Hamilton. Boston's Giancarlo Stanton came on as a pinch hitter and hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Konerko to tie the game up at 3. By the top of the 9th, the AP All-Stars were down to DBL closer Mariano Rivera, and the GT All-Stars were down to Maul closer Joel Hanrahan. Both pitchers put in a clinic, closing the 9th with no score. The game would go to extra innings with a 3-3 tie score. Both closers would pitch well, holding the other side at bay, and put on pitch counts that would make the DBL and Albuquerque managers livid. The stalemate finally broke in the bottom of the 14th, when Hunter Pence singled, moved to 2nd on a Hanrahan wild pitch, and scored on a double from Dallas shortstop Erick Aybar. The AP All-Stars win at home by a score of 4-3 in 14 innings. 2011 CDBL ALL-STAR MVP: Mariano Rivera is one of the best closers the league has ever seen, and Rivera did not disappoint here.
