His 1.18 ERA was best among any reliever with at least 60 innings, and his .484 OPS against was 3rd best in the majors. Rivera only saved 20 games, but his efforts helped the Thunder to 98 wins and the AP Conference Wildcard. ************************** 2005 FIREMAN OF THE YEAR - Chad Cordero, Manhatten Beach Mashers P Age ERA OPS W L S G GS CG SHO INN H R ER BB K HR GDP cl 23 2.12 .510 4 7 38 65 0 0 0 76.1 54 21 18 14 82 6 3 Cordero made the most of his opportunity as closer for the Mashers, leading the league in saves with 38. His .510 OPS against was 4th best in the league, and his 2.12 ERA was 9th best. Cordero had a particularly important role with the Mashers, who finished with 96 wins and a league wildcard spot. Their 96 wins were tied for 4th best in the conference, but the team's +95 run differential was only 6th best in the conference (and 10th best overall). Their 36 wins decided by a single run was best in the majors, so without Cordero the post-season chances of the Mashers could have been very different.
