2003 CDBL ALL-STAR GAME The 2003 CDBL All-Star game was held at Minute Maid Park, the home field of the Alphaville Cautions, the team with the best record at the all-star break. The Gehrig- Tiant All-Stars wasted no time putting runs on the board, as Topeka's Matt Stairs hit a 2 out double, scoring Alex Rodriguez of the Dragons. In the 2nd inning, Avila slugger Jim Edmonds hit a solo home run, putting the GT All-Stars up 2-0. In the 4th inning, with Hong Kong ace Pedro Martinez pitching, Mashers 2B Bret Boone hit a 2-run home run, tying the game up at 2. In the bottom of the inning, the GT All-Stars loaded the bases, bringing up Edmonds again. Edmonds was on fire today, smashing one over the wall for a grand slam home run. 6-2 GT after 4 innings of play. The AP All-Stars would not go quietly. In the 5th, Barry Bonds of the Isotopes hit a 2-run home run, cutting the GT All-Stars lead to 2. In the bottom of the 6th, Edmonds singled and scored on a double from Topeka 2B Jeff Kent. In the bottom of the 7th, with 2 on, Jorga Posada of the Pilots singled, and Alex Rodriguez scored on a misplayed ball thrown home. 8-4 GT. With 1 out and the bases loaded, Edmonds came through again, singling in a run. Kent grounded out, but allowed another runner to score. 10-4 GT All-Stars, and that would be the final score. The Gehrig-Tiant All-Stars win this year's All-Star game by a score of 10-4 over the Aaron- Paige All-Stars. 2003 CDBL ALL-STAR MVP: This one was quite easy.
