The Friars clinched the AP conference wildcard on the last days of the season, as did the Topeka Stingers capturing the Gehrig division pennant (their first since 1986). Arkham repeats as Aaron division champ, Alphaville captures their 2nd Tiant division pennant in 3 years, and the DBL Fishbiscuits win their first pennant since 1986. Barry Bonds topped his slugging percentage record set 8 years ago, the runs record set by Alex Rodriguez last year, and the record for walks. DBL's Sammy Sosa set a new RBI mark of 206, 20 better than Mark McGwire's 1997 record. The free swinging Fishbiscuits led the league in runs and home runs, but all those attempts to go yard also set a new record for most strikeouts by a hitting lineup with 1336 K's. Members of the 95 loss club this year were the Gold Diggers, Black Sox, Rude Dawgs, Decaf, Pilots and Surfers. The top of the 2002 draft is as follows: 1. Black Sox (never made playoffs, never had #1 pick) 2. Gold Diggers (made playoffs in 1993) 3. Pilots (made playoffs in 1996) 4. Decaf (made playoffs in 1998) 5. Surfers (made playoffs in 2000, lost 108 games) 6. Rude Dawgs (made playoffs in 2000, lost 99 games) Being on the outside looking in on the playoffs, the Springfield Isotopes will draft 7th.
